Worldwide Technical Achievement for Falkirk Company

Outreach Ltd, based at Falkirk, Scotland, has been awarded the coveted American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) Certificate of Design Assessment for their OSB 250 Offshore Access System.

The Certificate, awarded in April 2009, was endorsed by the technical office of ABS Europe and will operate for a period of five years, subject to any technical alteration in the Outreach OSB250 Offshore Access System, which is specifically designed and built to meet the oil industry technical requirements for safety and the environment worldwide.

The equipment is used on Fixed Platforms, Semisubmersibles, Jack-ups and Drillships to service production and maintenance activities.

Although Outreach Pipehandling cranes are type approved by DNV (Det Norske Veritas) the approval from ABS enables the company to more strongly respond to increasing sales and enquiries received from the Gulf of Mexico and South America. Derek Payne, Managing Director for Operations, recently attended the Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, Texas and used the occasion as a flag waving opportunity to proudly inform existing and potential clients of this success.
