 Outreach Wins £1 Million Pounds Worth of Oil & Gas Equipment Orders
At the end of 2004 Falkirk based Outreach suffered a major blow when their distributor for the oil & gas market was taken over by their main competitor. Orders which had been scheduled to flow to Outreach were retained by the new company. Outreach Chairman, Wilson Paton, commented “this really was an out-of-the-blue disaster that resulted in two years of hard work being erased overnight. We had to set about finding new distribution partners and helping them train their personnel before we could even begin the task of bidding for new contracts”.
The task was made even more difficult because all of this occurred when Outreach were in the final stages of launching a new Elevating Work Platform, purposely designed for use within the drilling derrick on offshore installations. “This new machine offers greatly enhanced safety and flexibility to those who are tasked with operating and maintaining drilling equipment and has already generated a strong level of interest “, says Paton.
Confidence in the future with this and similar items yet to be announced, is underpinned by the fact that orders for five new OSB250 platforms have already been received from leading drilling companies operating in the North Sea.
These orders helped to tide Outreach over whilst they worked on their new distribution arrangements for USA, Far East and South America. Outreach Director of Sales, Gary Potts, was able to finalise the new distributor arrangements with Patriot Mechanical Handling* during his attendance at the recent Oil and Gas Equipment Exhibition in Brazil. This latest batch of orders is the first to result from the new collaboration with Patriot Mechanical Handling.
